Scary Stories: A Karmaloop Halloween Special
Remember “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”? If so, I know you know you got chills just seeing these pictures….
Karmaloop has teamed up with HarperCollins publishers to bring back chilling childhood fears with this dark and disturbing collection of t-shirts. These just-released shirts are exclusive to Karmaloop.com and this is the first time that these haunting images have ever been used for apparel.
Each shirt features a different surreal illustration from the popular ‘80s and ‘90s children’s books series by Alvin Schwartz, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones. Vivid illustrations from the original books are reproduced with frightening beauty and realism in each of seven unisex T-Shirt designs. They retail for $32 each.
T-Shirt names – each depicting a different Scary Story – include: “The Red Spot,” “Sam’s New Pet,” “The Ghost with Bloody Fingers,” “The Haunted House,” “Is Something Wrong?,” “It’s Him!” and “The Thing.”
The fondly-remembered, cult-classic spooky tales series for kids was based on ghost stories and urban legends. Listed throughout the 1990s as the “most challenged” book series by the American Library Association for its graphic violence, these disturbing images are a perfect, nostalgic conversation piece.

Each t-shirt is a soft, antiqued white 100% cotton Alternative Apparel shirt. The design is digitally printed for a high quality, soft look & feel— capturing the surreal vibe of the original artwork. To complement the illustration on the front, the full story from each book is printed in dark grey on the inside of the shirt, to read at your leisure (preferably at night, by flashlight, under the covers).
