Is that you Beyonce?? A glowing “Countdown”
Everyone that knows me knows that I am not much of a fan of the uber-pop, candy coated diva better known as Beyonce. I’ve always been much more of a fan of her more trendy, artsy sister Solange. So I didn’t sit by the TV waiting for the “Countdown” video to premier like some of her mega fans.
With all that being said, when I actually saw the video, I was kind of shocked. It was colorful and she looked, (dare I say it) youthful and fresh-faced. Definitely a change from the dark (black and white), melodramatic, super strong faced videos that we usually get. Most critics have said that she channeled Audrey Hepburn and I definitely see the influences, but most of all, what I see is joy! She wears the baby bump well and the baby glow doesn’t hurt either.
Though she still worked it, I was mosty impressed with the scenery in the video. “Fame” like dancers creating a scene in the budget-friendly American Apparel. The pointed toes, the chocolate brown haired Beyonce, the band, and the colors. I loved!
