24-Karat Gold plated Atari 2600 by Urchin Associates
And now a little something for my Sugar Gamers out there…
Forget about platinum chains, diamonds, Maybachs and ace of spades. This is the only real status symbol you need: a 24-karat solid gold Atari 2600 gaming console. Well, maybe it’s not the end all be all, but if you were a kid in the 80’s and have cherished memories playing “Asteriods” or “Missile Command” – and have a ridiculous amount of disposable income – then this might be for you!
Part of a personal art project by Urchin Associates, who have already made a 24k gold stingray and skateboard, the entire console is made of gold as well as the controller joysticks. No word on whether the game cartridges themselves will be made of gold, or more importantly, if the console is even playable, but Urchin Associates are already upping the ante on solid gold items, specifically golden monkeys. Price is not indicated, but if you’re even considering purchasing this, is price really even an issue?
