Landscapes by Detroit Artist Graem Whyte

Detroit bartender, artist, sculptor, and curator of This Week In Art; Graem Whyte creates art that is sometimes meticulous but also makes pieces that are less serious in nature.  His media varies from metals like bronze to cardboard and his works range from origami like representations of beehives, cell-splitting mitosis to Transformations of Chewbacca.

The Chewbacca exhibit shows the beloved Star Wars character intermingled with Whyte’s mathematical slant and his Landscapes pieces show his version of weird futuresque landscapes.  The most striking of these pieces is Let Yourself Go that features a record of that same name with a landform atop a record player. This is but one piece from Whyte’s Landscape collection, so give him a visit GraemWhyte.com to see the other pieces and if you’re in Detroit and love art, drop in on This Week In Art Wednesday nights at Motor City Brewing Works.

Signed, LeVar Thomas
