LAURYN HILL: TO BE OR TO NOT BE?
Over the past thirteen years Luaryn Hill fans have been going in circles with false hope that of the return of the Ms. Hill. It seemed as thought there was no returning of the star but with fingers crossed our luck might just change. In several interviews Ms. Hill (which is what she prefers to be referred as) has stated that it is the time to create some new records for the public! She’s currently on her Rock the Bell concerts, and leaks of a 2010 record called Repercussions have been floating around the internet.
Check out this interview she did with Fuse where she addresses her career as an artist past, present, & future! (please excuse the quality it’s the best I could find)
Although I am anticipating her return, I can not help but wonder if her window to be as a successful artist has closed. I make this statement not because I’m questioning Ms. Hill’s skills as a musician, but because the culture that Lauryn Hill’s music thrived in has vastly changed. Everything from the quality of music the the content of music has is completely different. I mean lets be honest Lauryn Hill makes music for the soul, she causes thought and change; and if you reflect on the music of most artist today don’t do that anymore. Would todays culture be able to appreciate the poetry of Lauryn Hill’s old soul?
